Udu drum-making workshop

Have you ever wanted to create your own musical instrument with your own hands? Join me in my atelier for a unique, four-session udu drum-making workshop, where we’ll craft and mold a clay udu drum from scratch. Over the course of 16 hours, you’ll experience the art of pottery and the creation of an instrument that carries both beauty and sound.

The udu is a traditional African drum known for its deep, resonant sound. In this workshop, you’ll work with me to design and create your very own udu drum, from shaping the clay to the glazing and final touches. The final pitch of each drum will be unique, shaped naturally by the form and construction of your piece, and the beauty of the sound will emerge as a reflection of your craftsmanship.

What to expect:

  • 4 sessions of hands-on, creative work (4 hours each), spaced out to give you time to craft and refine your drum.
  • All materials included (clay, tools, glaze, and firing).
  • Personalized guidance through the process of creating your udu drum.
  • Coffee, tea, and fresh fruits to keep you energized and inspired.
  • A relaxed, creative atmosphere where you can tap into your artistic flow and connect with the process of making something truly unique.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, this workshop will guide you in creating a handcrafted instrument that reflects your own creativity. You’ll leave not only with an udu drum, but with a deeper appreciation for the craft and the creative process.
